Tom Dixon was approached to design a piece for an exhibition at Somerset House called ‘The Art, Design and Future of Fungi’.

I designed, modelled and produced a fibre glass mould of the chair that was then sent to Symbiotec who are a company who specialise in Mycelium. Mycelium is the vegetable part of fungus that can be mixed together with agricultural waste to create a solid material.

Over a two week period, the Mycelium expanded and solidified to create the Mushroom Chair.

The chair was on show from 30th January - 26th April 2020.
